Our Rights

Constitutional Rights

We believe:

  • our natural rights, as embodied in the Constitution, begin at conception and continue until death. The terms “people” and “persons” shall apply to every human being at any stage of development, including pre-born.
  • the Declaration of Independence asserts that certain individual rights cannot be taken away by government. It reads: “We are endowed by our Creator with the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
  • all individuals have the right by natural law to reference God in any way they choose including in public classrooms
  • reference to God should remain in Pledge of Allegiance and patriotic music
  • statements regarding liberty, religion, and morality made by the Founding Fathers are as important today as they were over 200 years ago.
  • language in the Constitution and Declaration of Independence is relevant today and its original intent must be protected while applied to contemporary issues. We reject the idea that because the times change so must the meaning of the language in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.
  • in accordance with the U.S. Constitution, all duties improperly or unfairly usurped by the federal government shall be returned to the states and to the American people.
  • the intent of the 2 nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and Article I, Section 25, of the Wisconsin Constitution, is to protect the right of citizens to keep and bear arms, for both self-protection and protection of our freedoms from tyranny.
  • all efforts to require registration of firearms and to restrict ownership, manufacture, transfer, carrying, or sale of firearms or ammunition by law-abiding citizens we oppose.
  • the original meaning of freedom of religion was freedom of the individual to worship as desired and freedom from state-imposed religion.
  • statements regarding religion and morality made by the Founding Fathers are as important today as they were over 200 years ago.
  • the phrase, ‘One nation under God’, in the Pledge of Allegiance is harmonious with the United States Constitution, protected by the 1st Amendment’s freedom of expression.
  • as did the Founding Fathers, that religion and morality which harm no one are fundamentally important to maintaining individual freedoms in this country.

We support:

  • protecting all religious references and symbols both private and public spheres, as long as they do not incite violence. This includes on or in public buildings, on public lands, or in public documents, particularly during nationally recognized and celebrated holidays and holy days.
  • Private prayer in public schools, convocations at public school celebrations, and thanking God during public sporting events should not be limited or prohibited, rejecting that such actions violate the U.S. Constitution or discriminate against those who of other religious faiths or no religious faith.
