Before I was born, my mom retired as a schoolteacher when she started our family. She had an artistic touch and, during her free time, created terrific Christmas ornaments and left creative notes for us in our lunches, and even illustrated a poetry book. She was the rock of our family, and kept us together with love and humor until she recently passed away; I miss her enormously. As for my father, he worked for Northwestern Mutual Life in the contract department. He was a compassionate and amazing man whom I admired and respected. Unfortunately, my father passed away in 2002. Even to this day, I still miss him. They instilled in me a sense of fairness and independence. They always encouraged us to strive and reach for our dreams.
Tom Tiffany is a lifelong Wisconsinite. He grew up on a dairy farm in western Wisconsin, milking cows and feeding calves at sunrise. He attended public school, worked his way through UW-River Falls, and went on to be a successful small business owner. Together with his wife Chris, Tom owned and operated Wilderness Cruises in Wisconsin’s stunning Northwoods for two decades. In addition, he served as the dam tender on the Willow Flowage for 29 years, earning him the nickname of the “dam man.”
From serving as a Town of Little Rice supervisor to representing Wisconsin in Madison and Congress, Tom has fought for Wisconsin at every level of government. He knows how to make government work for the People, not the elite. He has balanced budgets, secured our borders, and never backed down when it came to putting Wisconsinites first.
Wisconsin gave Tom everything—a chance to raise three daughters, start a small business, and live the American Dream. But today that dream is slipping away under Democrat leadership in Madison, and four more years of the same could turn Wisconsin into another Minnesota or Illinois, where families are crushed by rising taxes and opportunities fade.
Tom is running for governor to make sure every Wisconsin family has the same shot at the American Dream he was given. He has stood up to unelected bureaucrats and coastal elites in Washington, D.C. As governor, he will fight every day for families, for farmers, and for the hardworking people who make this state great. He will take on the powerful, stand for the commonsense values we share, and deliver real results for every Wisconsinite.
His first combat deployment was to Bosnia Herzegovina immediately following the signing of the Dayton Accords. During this time, he came to understand how truly unique and wonderful America is, and why She is not only worth emulating, but protecting.
Derrick continued his service with multiple combat tours to Afghanistan and Iraq. Additionally, he served in the Horn of Africa, Asia, Europe, and South and Central America.
During his tour in Europe in 2012, under the Obama administration, he was responsible for planning Special Operations contingency operations for the European Continent.
This is where he learned that when America has ineffectual leaders, Americans pay the price for this lack of strength. The direct result of this was the tragic killing of his former teammate Ty Woods and fellow SEAL Glen Doherty during the terrorist attack on the embassy annex in Benghazi, Libya.
Derrick was called back into public service, this time as a candidate for Congress in the 3rd District of his beloved State of Wisconsin
